Top: Forever 21 (Similar: here) • Jeans: American Eagle (Similar) • Sneakers: VEJA (Madewell) • Backpack: Michael Kors • Sunglasses: Vogue Eyewear

Hello there! I recently got back from a family trip in Portugal and as you can imagine, my routine got a little thrown off. I am getting back on track though and I am here today to share some good stuff with you.

As I mentioned above, this trip was about family, so I didn’t get to take a lot of pictures for fashion posts. I had not seen my Mom for over 3 years and I really wanted to make sure I enjoyed every second with her. Ok fine! I did pose for pictures a bit (I mean a lot) lol, but so did my Mom ha! You should’ve seen her. She could be a blogger! We had so much fun. Mike, not so much lol. Sometimes he runs out of patience with pictures! However, he always loves the results afterwards when we’re putting a photo album together.

Anyway, after posting my first picture on Instagram, I had a lot of people asking me about the polka dot top I was wearing, so I decided to share all the details with you here and some styling ideas.

The top is from Forever 21 and it’s an online only piece. To be honest with you, always when I go to the mall I stop by at their store to take a look around, but I can never find anything. Because of that, I started shopping online instead and I found out that they have a great ‘online only’ selection. Many of these pieces are from independent brands and are sold online for being a little pricier, but still, nothing crazy. You pay for higher quality for sure!

In addition to talking about Forever 21, I haven’t shopped at their store for a while, so I don’t know if they have changed their return policy (you could only return stuff for store credit), but the good news is that if you buy online they give you a full refund back to your credit card (love that) when you make a return.

This cute/sexy burgundy polka dot top has a self-tie front closure, long bell sleeves and a plunging neckline. I was a little concerned about the plunging neckline when I first got it to be honest, but it is actually comfortable to wear. You can adjust the opening with the self-tie detail on the front to achieve the look you’re looking for.

Since we were sightseeing, I went for the comfortable style. I combined it with high wasted jeans and sneakers. The vintage cut jeans are from American Eagle and, as I stated on my previous posts, it’s my favorite pair I own. I could have easily worn heels instead of sneakers with this outfit for a different occasion.

Speaking of sneakers, this pair is my new baby! They’re from VEJA and I got them at Madewell. It was love at first sight. I am obsessed with the gold stars! They add a fun and stylish touch to them.

Last but not least, I can’t forget to talk about my backpack travel buddy from Michael Kors. I seriously love this backpack! It has come with me on so many trips. It allows me to carry extra junk around lol without feeling uncomfortable.

3 Different Ways to Style This Self-Tie Polka Dot Top

Before I am finished, I wanted to say that what I love about this top is how versatile it is. I mean, thanks to trends nowadays anything could be versatile (some pieces are more than others of course). You just need to be creative and get out of your comfort zone.

As I was saying, you can easily style this top (or similar) with sneakers like you see in the pictures. It’s comfortable yet stylish. It was the perfect choice to wander around during the day.

Now, if you’re looking for a night out outfit, you can easily wear this top with black high wasted jeans, leather jacket and boots for an edgy/street look. The reason why I keep suggesting ‘high wasted pants’ is because the front tie nod goes right in front of the bellybutton. With that being said, a high wasted option would be more comfortable to wear and you wouldn’t need to worry about it being too revealing.

Last, you can style it with a pair of culotte trousers (white ones would look amazing) for a chic and sophisticated look. Unfortunately I haven’t found a pair of white trousers that fit me well yet… I will though! Stay tuned lol!

This burgundy polka dot is almost sold out, but I am linking similar styles for you to check out as well.

Girl that top is smoking. I haven’t been to Forever 21 for 13 years. I used to buy a cheap top to party in. LOL. But I think I’ll try online after reading your post. I am digging that Shein top. I have a blue and white polka dot top from Anthropology that this is reminding me of…maybe I need to pull it out of my closet. BTW – so glad you got to visit your mom! 3 years is a long time!
