6 Anti-Aging Skincare Products that Will Improve your Skin

Today we’re changing the gear for a bit. I want to talk to you about something that bothered me for a long time. And after a lot of research/samples, I finally managed to find 6 anti-aging skincare products that improved my skin dramatically and they can do the same for you.

Finding the right skincare products can be extremely overwhelming since there are so many options out there to choose from. I have always been very lazy in taking care of my skin, I know, shame on me! But I am being honest here. I used to use one daily moisturizer with sunscreen and that’s it. Well, I must point out that I have always had great skin and never had any issues with acne (me trying to justify the lack of love on my skin), but in the beginning of this year I started noticing that my pores got much larger than they used to and that freaked me out.

I turned 33 this year (yep! It’s against the rules I know, but I just did say my age out loud lol) and I really needed to do something, but I had no idea where to start. I did it though, and I am here today to share with you how I managed to get my healthy looking skin back.

Before I start, I would like to state that I have and always have had normal skin and because of that, it wasn’t too hard finding products that are such a good fit for my skin at this age. I am saying this because some of you might not have the same experience. However, I am glad to tell you that the products below have been formulated for all skin types! They all work well with normal, oily (or the combination of both), dry and sensitive skin. So have fun and I hope you enjoy the reviews!

6 Anti-Aging Skincare Products that will Improve your Skin

Exfoliating not only your skin, but your entire body is extremely important because that’s how you remove the old dead skin cells. As I am sure you all know, this process involves physically scrubbing the skin with an abrasive surface. I have been exfoliating my skin for over 10 years now, though it felt like I needed something a little more than just some scrub soap that I used in the shower quickly 2 times a week.

After seeing commercials and doing a lot of research, I decided to try the Neutrogena Microdermabrasion at-home kit and I loved it. It made my skin look smooth and luminous within the first try. I also noticed improvement in signs of black heads, the size of my pores and fine lines. I use it 2-3 times a week on my entire face (avoiding the eye area), preferably after washing my hair. The pores open up with the shower steam and water making it easier to remove the dead cells and impurities with the exfoliation.  I exfoliate in round movements for about 5 minutes total. I spend more time on my chin, forehead and around my nose to remove blackheads and work on the pores.

Once again, I would like to remind you that I have normal skin. This product worked really well for me but that does not mean you will have the same results. So if you notice any kind of irritation after starting to use it (which I never had), reduce the amount of time and friction on each area or stop using it immediately.

The Neutrogena Microdermabrasion costs around $17.99 and can be found at stores such as Target, local supermarkets and drugstores.

Before talking specifically about each of the above I would like to start by telling you how I got to them. And the answer is SEPHORA.

I have always been a SEPHORA customer, but mostly for make-up. When I decided to go to them for help with my skincare routine they did not disappoint me either. Once I got there, I basically told a specialist what I was looking for. Then, she provided me with samples according to my skin type. I love that they offer this service! Skincare products are quite expensive and making sure that whatever you choose is really a good fit for your skin before investing on them is a game changer.

So since I was really concerned about my pores, I first focused on getting a NIGHT SERUM.

2 – DRUNK ELEPHANT T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum

When I first spoke to a SEPHORA skin specialist, I told her that I was interested in starting a new skincare routine with anti aging formula and Vitamin C. She examined my skin and actually recommended a deeper exfoliation to help with my pores and skin complexion. I tried 2 different brands for a couple of weeks and after doing some research, the winner was DRUNK ELEPHANT T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum.

It’s a 12 percent AHA/BHA serum for night that refines and resurfaces skin to reveal a smoother and more radiant complexion (aaahh this sounds like music to my ears). The T.L.C. Framboos™ absorbs easily and delivers an effective level of exfoliation without harsh side effects such as dryness or sensitization. As I mentioned above, it is good for all skin types.

I am in love with this product! It balanced the uneven texture of my skin and diminished my pores considerably. I could also notice improvement on fine lines (neck as well) and discoloration, along with excess oiliness.

This babe is actually one of the most popular products at SEPHORA at the moment and it has great reviews. I use it every night after cleansing my skin, but sometimes I skip a day after using the Neutrogena Microdermabrasion.  I spread it on my face and neck and whatever is left, I apply on the back of my hands.

When I first started using it, I noticed a tingling sensation on my skin (which is normal). In this case it’s recommended to use it every other day for a week or until your skin gets used to it. Also, moisturizing your skin after using this Serum is not required. You could if you want to, and so I tried, but it did not work with my skin. It became oily after doing this for 2 days.

Before applying this product, don’t forget to cleanse your skin. I always wash my face with a Vitamin C face wash detox and finish cleansing my skin with Micellar Cleansing Water  (you will find the info about these down below).

Another thing that I wanted to point out is that after reading this product’s reviews, I learned it doesn’t go so well with Retinol (a type of anti-aging serum also known as Vitamin A). So make sure you speak to a qualified professional if you’re thinking about using both.

The DRUNK ELEPHANT T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum costs $90 at SEPHORA. It’s not a cheap Serum I must say, but it’s so worth the price. Not to mention that the product is really easy to spread thanks to its amazing consistency, making it last 2 to 3 months (1oz bottle), depending on your skin.

Anti-Aging Skincare Products

I have one thing to say about moisturizing the skin daily… VITAMIN C!

I had countless talks with my dear Aunt Kris, who had been working at one of the best spas in Philadelphia and whom is incredibly knowledgeable about the subject, about how I wanted to find the right anti-aging products for my skin and one thing that she always said to me is how important Vitamin C is.

Vitamin C is an essential component in the body’s production of collagen and a great antioxidant that can help rejuvenate aged skin. As we age, we become even more exposed to ultraviolet radiation and pollution, which makes the levels of Vitamin C decline causing collagen degradation and oxidative stress on our skin. With that being said adding Vitamin C to your skincare routine is extremely important to help maintain our skin luminous, healthy looking and free of dark spots.

After learning all that, I went back to SEPHORA and once again told one of the girls what I was looking for and after taking a closer look at my skin she recommended a few options. I tried it on the back of my hand and right away I fell in love with Vitamin Nectar Moisture Glow Face Cream from the Fresh Line.

Nectar is a lightweight moisturizer with vitamins C, E, and B5 that instantly awakens skin for a daily dose of glow and it’s great for uneven texture and skin tone plus dark spots.

Besides all that, it smells amazing! With an energizing citrus scent, the lightweight formula absorbs quickly to soften and minimizes signs of tired skin, making your skin feel refreshed without a non-greasy feel. It literally makes my skin super smooth and glowy and I am so happy I found this product.

You can find the Vitamin Nectar Moisture Glow Face Cream at SEPHORA at such a good price. It costs only $42 and trust me, it will last for a long time. So worth it!

Anti-Aging Skincare Products

When you start an anti-aging skincare routine you cannot forget the eye area. I don’t have wrinkles, but I do have some fine lines under my eyes that ‘used’ to get very noticeable specially with the application of foundation and concealer.

Besides the fine lines, I also noticed that the skin under my eyes started getting a little darker which made me look tired all the time. Again, shame on me for not taking care of my skin earlier, but luckily I have found an amazing product for my eye area and I am so excited to share it with you guys.

I am talking about Black Tea Age-Delay Concentrate from the FRESH Line. It’s an AM and PM eye cream that diminishes visible signs of aging, dark circles, and puffiness, while moisturizing and firming the eye area. The black tea complex helps inhibit damaging free radicals and improve elasticity, creating the appearance of softer, smoother and brighter skin.  One of the things I love about the entire FRESH Line is that all their products are formulated without Parabens, Sulfates and Phthalates. They also praise themselves for using natural ingredients which it’s wonderful.

More importantly, this product improved the thick veins I have underneath my eyes. That is something that always bothered me a lot since I could barely manage to cover them up with concealers. After using this eye cream for about 3 weeks I noticed a big difference, especially with the puffiness of my veins and skin complex.

The Black Tea Age-Delay Concentrate eye cream costs $78 and you can also find it at SEPHORA. I know it sounds a little pricy and I thought the same thing when I first heard of it. However, it will last a long time since all you need is a tiny bit, plus its effeteness makes it so worth it.

Anti-Aging Skincare Products

As I was telling you, I spoke with my aunt a lot about skincare products and she never hid her enthusiasm about Vitamin C. While I was still doing my research, she went ahead and gave me Soap & Glory FACE SOAP & CLARITY as a gift. It’s a 3-in-1 daily detox facial wash with Vitamin C and it helps smooth, purify and energize the skin. I noticed the difference right away as it made my skin feel brighter and smoother after only one wash. It is AMAZING!

I use it every morning and night before applying the moisturizer and the night serum, followed by my cleansing water.

You can find Soap & Glory at Target and it costs only $10.99! It can’t get better than this. I mean, it actually can! It is also formulated without Parabens, Sulfates and Phthalates.

Even after cleansing my skin with Soap & Glory Vitamin C face wash, I like to make sure my pores and fine lines are really clean before applying my daily moisturizer and night serum. And I do that with Simple Micellar Cleansing Water.

I love this product! It is gentle and effective when removing makeup, cleanses, unclogs pores, hydrates and conditions skin. I use it more for basic cleansing though, and I noticed that it really boosts the hydration of my skin. I also make sure I cleanse my neck as well before applying any product.

As I mentioned above, I use it twice a day by applying it with a cotton ball gently on skin. After you’re finished, there is no need to rinse.

You can find Simple Micellar Cleansing Water at Target, local supermarkets and drugstores and costs $8.99.

Thanks so much Rebecca! I am glad you liked the post. These products are really great! Are you based in Australia? I am not sure if these products are available there. If not, try adding Vitamin C to your skincare routine. You’re skin will feel amazing I guarantee 🙂

I had to laugh when you said it’s against the rules to mention your age – at “only” 33 (2 of my 4 “kids” are older than you are) – I keep talking about my age of 59 (60 in about 5 months!) and how I wish I had been better at skin care all these years. I would probably have better skin and less visible signs of aging now! I especially like the sounds of your #3, #5, and #6 products – might have to look into them!

Fabulous assortment of products and diversified price ranges which is so critical! I especially liked that you veered away from classic Department Store lines because in many instances you are paying an elevated cost for the “name”. It’s great that you’ve introduced lesser known products. I find that they are more results driven with a better concentration of ingredients! Great introduction for those who are not familiar
